Summer Student

Welcome Xiomara Brooks to the church staff for the summer. Xio (pronounced Zi) grew up in our youth ministry and was baptized in our church. After graduation she has started a teaching program at UBC. She’s been very involved in the christian community there and came home excited to serve her church family and help out with the youth ministry.

Xio is coming on staff as a Youth Ministry Coordinator and will primarily be focused on helping organize and run the VBSs and organize events for the youth group.

Church Camp Theme:

Each year we pick a theme from a popular movie series that shapes our games. It gives us a lot of material for jokes and fun, but there is a serious side to the theme as well.

This year, Pastor Alex asked the Youth Group what theme we should pick, and they chose Minecraft. If you haven’t had young kids in your house in the past 10 years, here is a 4 minute video to give you a quick idea of what Minecraft is all about…just so you get the jokes.

Kids: Why did the creeper cross the road? To get to the other s-s-s-s-s-s-s-side.

Adults: For us this theme invites us into thinking of the future as a blank canvas—the world is different, so what now, God?

Camp Volunteering!

There is no part of camp more important than the food. We prepare it together as a family—everyone takes a turn in the kitchen.

But we need some people to volunteer to take leadership for each meal. The menus are already prepared; food is purchased. We just need leaders.

Email Darlene to volunteer.

There are other places to help volunteer at camp. Come prepared to serve.

Preschool Spaces Available

Families can still sign up for the new preschool year starting in September by visiting www.fellowship.ca/preschool or calling the preschool office at (250) 624-5217.
